Hartles Subs - A Great Experience

When I was a kid, Hartle’s was THE PLACE to go for subs.  I remember my dad placing our standard order for a cold cut with “hot stuff” while I sat on the retro metal bar stools at the counter where you could watch the magic happen. Busy ladies behind the counter bustled around, efficiently slathering mayo on long rolls, gossiping as they worked. The smell of strong onions, which they used liberally, made my eyes tear and followed me all day. It was heaven.

Hartle’s has been a local favorite for as long as I can remember and is still a popular place to eat in Hagerstown!  Since 1955, their recipe for the flying saucer hasn't changed.  Hartle’s wide variety of subs are made with fresh rolls and quality meats and cheeses.  They still even offer hot sauce, a mixture of hot cherry peppers, which may be a sandwich condiment unique to Hagerstown.   New owners purchased the Hartle’s family name and recipes in 2004 and intend to keep Hartle's Subs a family business. They want families to be able to enjoy a delicious meal without breaking the bank. They now have 3 locations, the original on S. Potomac Street, and a Marshall Street and Dual Highway location.  Go to Hartle’s and order a flying saucer with hot stuff…it will be a great experience!
