Gordon’s Market - A Hidden Gem

To say that Gordon’s Market is off the beaten path is an understatement, but this old-time general store, located in the middle of a residential block on Cypress Street in Hagerstown, is a secret worth seeking out.  Three generations have run this family business that has operated in the first floor of a house for 90 years. The inside of the building still brims with the store’s original character.  Wooden shelves, wood floors, and the cash register that is at least 70 years old  maintain the vintage charm, but there’s a lot to attract the modern shopper.  The store offers locally grown fruits and vegetables, organic milk, and two narrow aisles of packaged goods. Gordon’s is well known in the community for their delicious handmade jumbo lump crabcakes and party platters. At the deli you can pick up a filet mignon, New York Strip Steaks, and a variety of seafood.  A good selection of wine and beer is available, and they host monthly wine tastings.  Enjoy the slower pace and nostalgia of a store where you’ll find birthday wishes to frequent customers scrolled on a chalkboard, and a countdown to Christmas on a sign outside the shop. This truly is a gem worth finding - you don't have to go far for a great experience!
