Clogging - It is a great experience!
The South might have brought us Cheerwine Soda and Krispy Kreme Donuts, but they also get credit for migrating Clogging to modern day culture in all over the U.S. In 2018, Robert Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska clog danced during a scene of “Damsel”. Even Clint Eastwood and Justin Timberlake bonded over clogging in their 2012 movie “Trouble with the Curve”. Clogging is a type of folk dance in which the dancer's footwear is used percussively by striking the heel, the toe, or both against a floor or each other to create audible rhythms. It was the social dance in the Appalachian Mountains as early as the 18th century. If you’d like to see clogging in action, or even give it a try, head over to the Fit Room at the Fairgrounds on August 25th at 2p.m. Veteran Clogger Mark Wilson will be hosting a two hour Intro to Clogging class for all ages.
